Brilliant defensive schemes and sure tackling by both teams added up to a hard-fought 0-0 tie.  Van Meter's passing game was sharp, as they connected on a couple of long plays.  Earlham countered with two or three long runs, but neither team could punch the ball into the end zone.  Van Meter had an excellent chance to win the game.  With less than 20 seconds to play in the 4th quarter, they hooked up on another pass play and took the ball down to the two yard line.  With time expiring Earlham's stout run defense stacked up the Bulldog ball carrier and the tie was in the books.
